**THE KARAITE ISRAEL MOSQUE OF ASCENSION AND THE TEMPLE OF KEDAR MINISTRIES(The Original Kedar-Rite of the Karaim)**

THE CALENDAR OF ENOCH(THE SOLAR CALENDAR OF ISRAEL)

The Calendar of Enoch is divided into four seasonal quarters with three months in each quarter. The first two months in each quarter have 30 days while the last month in each quarter has 31 days and therefore each quarter contains 91 days. The total of the four quarters combined(91x4=364) is 364 days. However at the end of SIX MONTHS there is a Preparation Day which separates the year into two halves. This Preparation Day does not count as a numerical date or day but it does bring the total for the yearly cycle to 365 days. At the end of every four years a second Preparation Day is added at the end of the 12 month cycle which brings the Enoch Calendar into the perfected 365.25 days in which it takes the earth to orbit the sun. The second Preparation Day makes up for the .25(quarter of a day) lost each year in the previous 4 years.

THE 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR AS LISTED ON THE ENOCHIAN SOLAR CALENDAR

1. NISANU = MARCH (30 DAYS)

2. AYARU = APRIL(30 DAYS)

3. SIMANU = MAY(31 DAYS)

4. TAMUZU = JUNE (30 DAYS)

5. ABU= JULY(30 DAYS)

6. ULULU = AUGUST(31 DAYS)

7. TASHRITU = SEPTEMBER (30 DAYS)

8.VARASHMANU = OCTOBER (30 DAYS)

9. KISLIMU = NOVEMBER (31DAYS)

10 SHABATU = DECEMBER(30 DAYS)

THE ENOCH AND GREGORIAN SOLAR CALENDARS

As with any true Solar Calendar both the Enoch Solar Calendar of Ancient Israel and the Gregorian Solar Calendar have 365.25 days per year .This is the amount of time which it takes the earth to fully orbit the sun and return to the same exact position in relation to the Sun that it was at the beginning of the previous New Year.

The Enochian New Year takes place at the 1st day of the 1st month of Nissanu which corresponds to March 1st. However since Nissanu has 30 days, while March has 31 the Enochian calendar moves one day ahead of the Gregorian as it enters the second month of Ayaru. Therefore it is the 2nd day of the 2nd month of Ayaru which equates to April 1st.

Both Ayaru and April have 30 days and thus as the Enochian Calendar enters the 3rd month of Simanu it remains one day ahead of the Gregorian. Therefore the 2nd day of the 3rd month of Simanu equates to the 1st day of May.

Both Simanu and May have 31 days and thus as the Enochian Calendar enters the 4th month of Tamuzu it remains one day ahead of the Gregorian Calendar. Therefore the 2nd day of the 4th month of Tamuzu equates to the 1st day of June.

Both Tamuzu and June have 30 days and thus as the Enochian Calendar enters the 5th month of Abu it remains one day ahead of the Gregorian Calendar. Therefore the 2nd day of the 5th month of Abu equates to the 1st day of July.

The 5th month of Abu has 30 days while the 5th seasonal month of July has 31 days and thus the Enochian Calendar moves two days ahead of the Gregorian as it enters the 6th month of Ululu. Therefore it is the 3rd day of the month of Ululu that equates to the 1st day of August.

Both the 6th month of Ululu and the 6th seasonal month of August have 31 days. However on the Enochian Calendar at the end of SIX MONTHS there is a Preparation Day which separates the year into two halves. This Preparation Day does not count as a numerical date or day and the Enochian Calendar is now only one day ahead of the Gregorian as it enters the 7th month of Tishritu. Therefore it is the 2nd day of Tishritu which equates to the 1st day of the 7th seasonal month of September.

Both the 7th month of Tishritu and the 7th Seasonal Gregorian Month of September have 30 days and thus the Enochian Calendar remains one day ahead of the Gregorian as it enters the 8th month of Varashmanu. Therefore it is the second day of Varashmanu that equates to the 1st day of the 8th seasonal Gregorian month of October.

The 8th Enochian month of Varashmanu has 30 days while the 8th seasonal Gregorian month of October has 31 days and thus the Enochian Calendar now moves 2 days ahead of the Gregorian as it enters the 9th month of Kislimu. Therefore it is the 3rd day of the month of Kislimu that equates to the 1st day of the 9th seasonal Gregorian month of November.

The 9th Enochian month of Kislimu has 31 days while the 9th seasonal Gregorian month of November has 30 days and thus the Enochian Calendar is only 1 day ahead of the Gregorian Calendar as it enters the 10th month of Shabatu. Therefore it is the 2nd day of Shabatu that equates to the 1st day of the 10th seasonal Gregorian month of December.

The 10th Enochian month of Shabatu has 30 day while the 10th seasonal Gregorian month of December has 31 days and thus the Enochian Calendar is now 2 days ahead of the Gregorian Calendar as it enters the 11th month of Tebetu. Therefore it is the 3rd day of Tebetu that equates to the 1st day of the 11th seasonal Gregorian Month of January.

The 11th Enochian month of Tebetu has 30 days while the 11th seasonal Gregorian month of January has 31 days and thus the Enochian Calendar is now 3 days ahead of the Gregorian Calendar as it enters the 12th month of Adaru. Therefore it is the 4th day of Tebetu that equates to the 1st day of the 12th seasonal Gregorian month of February.

The 12th Enochian Month of Adaru has 31 days while the 12th seasonal Gregorian Month of February has 28 days and thus the Enochian and Gregorian Calendars are equalized. This means that the 1st day of the 1st month of Nissanu and the 1st day of the 1st seasonal Gregorian Month of March are the same day. Both the Enochian and Gregorian add a leap day every 4 years at the end of the 12th months of Adaru and February.

In comparing the Enoch Solar Calendar with that of the Gregorian Calendar, the Spring Month of Nisanu and that of the Spring Month of March are perfectly aligned and therefore the numerical dates of the Nisanu Holy Day observances are interchangeable with that of the numerics of March. Below are the corresponding dates.

ROSH CHODESHIM (Beginning of Months)

1ST of NISANU = 1ST OF MARCH

ASHURAH (The Day of the Lamb)

10th OF NISANU = 10TH OF MARCH

FEAST OF BREAD/PASSOVER

15TH -21ST OF NISANU = 15TH-21ST OF MARCH

HOWEVER WHEN THE ENOCH SOLAR CALENDAR REACHES THE 7TH MONTH OF TASHRITU IT HAS ALREADY MOVED ONE DAY AHEAD OF THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR AND THEREFORE TASHRITU AND SEPTEMBER ARE NOT NUMERICALLY ALIGNED.

BELOW ARE THE UPCOMING DATES FOR THE 7TH MONTH OBSERVANCES ON THE ENOCH SOLAR CALENDAR WITH THE GREGORIAN EQUIVALENTS :

ROSH HASHANNAH

1ST OF TASHRITU = 31ST OF AUGUST

YOM KIPPUR

10TH OF TASHRITU = 9TH OF SEPTEMBER

FEAST OF TENTS

15TH - 21ST OF TASHRITU = SEPTEMBER 14TH-20TH

SHIMINEI ATZERET-

22ND OF TASHRITU = SEPTEMBER 21ST

* The 49 days of Shavout are counted From March 16th which is the 16th of Nisanu. The 50th day which is the celebration of Shavout is the 6th day of the third month of Simanu equating to May 5th. May 5th and May 6th are referred to as HIDRELLEZ being a compound name of Elijah and Melchizadok(Al-Khidyr).

* The 49 days of Sigd are counted From the September 15th which is the 16th of Tashritu. The 50th day which is the celebration of Sejud is the 6th day of the 9th month of Kislimu which equates to November 4th.
