TITHES AND GIFTS OF FAITH

  ABRAHAM AND TITHING

The earliest example of Tithing was that of Abraham who was known to Tithe to the Ministry and Priesthood of Melchizadok giving One Tenth of what he had accumulated in the Wealth of Spoils.

Hebrews 7:1-2
     For this Melchizadok, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

TITHING IN THE QURANIC DISPENSATION

Tithe according to the divinely mandated percentage which in this Quranic dispensation is 20%.

  SURAH 8:41
And know that whatever thing you gain a Fifth(20%) of it is for Allah.....

The 20% actually refers to as that which is accumulated in the spoils of War. However in this dispensation in which we are Guarding Against Evil the true believers are always considered to be in a "State of War" with the world.

As the Bible teaches the Friends of the World are the Enemies of God: Since we are in the world and not of the world whatever we are able to accumulate from the world is likened unto the " Spoils of War ".

SURAH 2:2
This Book, there is no doubt in it, is a guide to those who guard (against evil).

JAMES 4:4
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

JOHN 15:9
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

JOHN 17:15-16
My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

TITHE TO THE "EBIONITE"  COMMUNITY OF GOD

The Ministry or Community of Jesus Christ was known as that of the Ebionites meaning "The Poor Ones ". When Jesus instructed his followers to give to the "Poor" he meant for them to give Donations and Tithes to the Ebionite Priestly Community of Monks who lived under the authority of the High Priest who is Jesus(Isa). If one wanted to dedicate themselves to God in purity and perfection in becoming a monk. They first sold all of their possessions and donated to the Ebionites(Poor).

MATTHEW 19:21
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor(Ebionites), and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

SURAH 5:82
and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Nazarenes(Ebionites); this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly.

WEALTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS BELONG TOGETHER

Those who did not desire to join the community in becoming a monk continued to live independently outside of the community. From there they faithfully gave tithes and offerings. The righteous believers also used their wealth and influence to help the priestly community during times of turbulence. Joseph of Arimithea was a wealthy follower of Jesus who used his riches to bring Christ down from the cross.

MATTHEW 27:57-58
As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus.Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

GOD WARNS BOTH THE PEOPLE WHO HOARD WEALTH AND THE MONKS AND PRIESTS WHO HOARD WEALTH FROM THE TITHES THEY ARE GIVEN
.

Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

SURAH 9:34
O you who believe! most surely many of the doctors of law and the monks eat away the property of men falsely, and turn (them) from Allah's way; and (as for) those who hoard up gold and silver and do not spend it in Allah's way, announce to them a painful chastisement,

STRIVING TO TITHE AND PLEASE GOD

SURAH 17:19
And whoever desires the hereafter and strives for it as he ought to strive and he is a believer; (as for) these, their striving shall surely be accepted.

One should always strive to meet the requirement of Tithing. If one is unable to meet the standard amount they should then give whatever they can no matter how small the offering is. If they truly cannot give anything then they should send a note testifying to their desire to give and requesting divine exemption. For all are required to Tithe. The Lord takes Tithing very seriously and has even complained about being Robbed in Tithes!!

 Malachi 3:8-9
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.Ye are cursed with a curse for ye have robbed me.....

Mandatory Tithes should be given on a monthly basis as part of the purification of the New Moon.

TITHING IN HARDSHIP WILL BE BLESSED

Gifts of Burden meaning those that are given in times of hardship or economic straits are voluntary sacrifices made from the heart and given in Faith. They are seeds of Faith that grow into treasures that will multiply like a gathering of the harvest.

Surah 3:134
Those who spend in ease as well as in straitness ....Allah loves the doers of good to others

Surah 57:11
Who is there that will offer to Allah a Good Gift so He will double it for him and he shall have an excellent reward.

Gifts of Burden(Offerings) which are given beyond the Mandatory Tithes are voluntary and are given in accordance with the donor's discretion and or at the dictate of the Holy Spirit.

3. Gifts of Faith which are given as a demonstration of sincerity and intent in accompanying Prayer Requests are also voluntary and likewise are given at the discretion of the donor and or the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
